Hello, I’m Bella. This is my digital garden :)
I see this as a place to publicly flesh out my thoughts — by doing so, I hold myself accountable for my learning and ideas. I’m currently really into comparative literature, mythology, and religion.
My philosophy toward knowledge and learning: what’s the point of consuming all this information that’s constantly thrown at me from different directions if I don’t choose what’s important to me, synthesize it, and make it my own?

top of mind
Writing and reading decrease our sense of isolation. They deepen and widen and expand our sense of life: they feed the soul. When writers make us shake our heads with the exactness of their prose and their truths, and even make us laugh about ourselves or life, our buoyancy is restored. We are given a shot at dancing with, or at least clapping along with, the absurdity of life, instead of being squashed by it over and over again. It’s like singing on a boat during a terrible storm at sea. You can’t stop the raging storm, but singing can change the hearts and spirits of the people who are together on that ship. — Anne Lamott, Bird by Bird

literature
- Book Reviews The Ultimate Learning Tool - YouTube (I started annotating the Mahabharata like this—it’s more time-consuming, but I believe it will be rewarding!!)
- The Iliad (I still need to finish it, but to be honest I am not very motivated to because the professor spoiled the entire plot in great detail when I studied it in 2023)
- Arjuna’s arrow is the diamond that cuts through illusion
- Hinduism
- The Unbearable Lightness of Being
- Giovanni’s Room
- Pride and Prejudice
life
- The Courage to Be Disliked
- How I find time for EVERYTHING (even with a full time job) - YouTube (balancing priorities in life and avoiding overwhelm; I’m focusing on using the 10-10-10 rule when I have to make big decisions)
- How to Become a Renaissance Man - The Fountain (without realizing, I think I’ve developed my life philosophy to align with the Renaissance Man ideal; what’s life if you don’t utilize the facilities you’ve been given—body, mind, and spirit—to their full potential?)
